Subfamily: Spounavirinae
Genus: Siminovitchvirus
Distinguishing features
The non-redundant part of the genome of the representative isolate Bacillus phage CP51 (species Siminovitchvirus CP51) is 138 658 bp with 221 protein coding genes (Klumpp et al., 2014). Members of the genus infect Bacillus cereus.
Species demarcation criteria
Members of the same species are more than 95% identical in genome nucleotide sequence, including the terminal repeat region. Phages with genomes that differ by more than 5% are assigned to different species.
