Subfamily: Brockvirinae

Genus: Kochikohdavirus

Distinguishing features

Genomes of known members fall in the range of 130–150 kbp. The genome of Enterococcus phage EF24C, the exemplar isolate of the representative species Kochikohdavirus EF24C, has a genome of 142 072 bp with 221 protein coding sequences as well as 5 encoded tRNAs (Uchiyama et al., 2008). Members of the genus infect Enterococcus faecalis.

Species demarcation criteria

Members of the same species are more than 95% identical in genome nucleotide sequence, including the terminal repeat region. Phages with genomes that differ by more than 5% are assigned to different species.
