Subfamily: Bastillevirinae
Genus: Caeruleovirus
Distinguishing features
Members of this genus infect Bacillus cereus and Priestia megaterium (formerly known as Bacillus megaterium). The genome of Bacillus phage vB_BceM_Bc431v3, the exemplar isolate of the representative species Caeruleovirus Bc431, is 158 621 bp with 238 protein coding genes as well as 21 encoded tRNAs (El-Arabi et al., 2013).
Species demarcation criteria
Members of the same species are more than 95% identical in genome nucleotide sequence, including the terminal repeat region. Phages with genomes that differ by more than 5% are assigned to different species.
