Distinguishing features

Viruses in this genus are widely separated phylogenetically from those in other genera (Figure 6B. Parvoviridae). A single species, Galliform aveparvovirus 1, includes two virus strains, turkey parvovirus and chicken parvovirus, that preferentially infect the eponymous birds. They are widespread in the United States and Europe, are highly infectious in young poultry, but are of uncertain pathology (Zsak et al., 2013, Zsak et al., 2015).
