Distinguishing features

The subfamily is defined on the basis of phylogenetic relationships of complete large protein (L) amino acid sequences (Rima et al., 2018). The sole member of the only genus was detected in a metagenomics study of triplecross lizardfish (Shi et al., 2018).

Genus demarcation criteria

Only a single genus has been recognized.
