Since only one genus is currently recognized, the genus description corresponds to the family description.
Existing species within the genus Rubivirus differ by >40% over the complete genome nucleotide sequence (Table 1.Rubivirus) or > 34% over the RNA-directed RNA polymerase amino acid sequence (Table 2.Rubivirus).
