New Member Introduction – Exploring Ways to Engage as a Non-Virologist

Hello everyone,

My name is Omotola Fatoki, and I’m a PhD student in Energy Engineering at the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. Although my academic background is in sustainable energy systems — particularly off-grid power generation and renewable technologies — I have a strong interest in how scientific institutions like the ICTV contribute to global collaboration and knowledge organization.

I recently joined the ICTV community to learn more about virus taxonomy and the committee’s structure and activities. I’m particularly interested in understanding how non-virologists or interdisciplinary researchers can engage with ICTV — whether through educational outreach, support for data systems, or other collaborative avenues.

I would greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions on how to participate meaningfully in ICTV’s ongoing work or discussions.

Thank you, and I look forward to learning from and interacting with this vibrant community.

Warm regards,
Omotola Fatoki
