While doing some checks compiling a sequence database based on ICTV VMR40 (VMR_MSL40.v1.20250307.xlsx) I noticed two pairs of spieces shown below which reference the same Genbank accessions. I wondered what is happening. Does anyone know?
Isolate ID | Species Sort | Species | ICTV_ID | Virus name(s) | Virus GENBANK accession |
VMR1007819 | 7842 | Begomovirus sidapallidi | ICTV202009131 | Sida chlorotic leaf virus | DNA-A: MN013784; DNA-B: MN013785 |
VMR1030369 | 7838 | Begomovirus sidaflavusfolii | ICTV202420470 | sida chlorotic leaf vrius | DNA-A: MN013784; DNA-B: MN013785 |
VMR1030156 | 2566 | Trabzonvirus APT65 | ICTV202420627 | Aeromonas phage APT65 | OP491958.1 |
VMR1024672 | 4518 | Aquaneticvirus ApT65 | ICTV202317828 | Aeromonas phage APT65 | OP491958 |
Taxonomy Corrections
Thank-you for noticing these errors. The error in the Begomovirus species have been corrected in proposal 2024.010PX.Geminiviridae_Begomovirus_18nsp_Error_Correction (Available from the Approved Proposals menu link on this web site; https://ictv.global/files/proposals/approved) . This proposal deletes the species, Begomovirus sidaflavusfolii.
The Aeromonas phage duplicate accession numbers is fixed in proposal 2024.015BX.Grimontviridae_2ng_1mg_2ns_Error_Correction. This proposal abolishes the genus Trabzonvirus and the duplicated species, Trabzonvirus APT65.
NOTE that these error corrections have not yet been incorporated into MSL 40 or the current VMR. This will take place sometime in the next several weeks.
Best,
Elliot
