Summary
The family Madisaviridae includes lytic double-stranded DNA viruses that infect the hyperhalophilic archaeon Haloarcula hispanica (Table 1.Madisaviridae). The family Madisaviridae was established in 2022 (Master Species List 37).

Madisaviridae: truncation of Margherita di Savoia – the place of virus isolation.
