Find the Species

Find the Species: A new tool to find a species name starting with all or part of a virus name.

A new tool has just been released on the ICTV web site, “Find the Species” (https://ictv.global/taxonomy/find_the_species), that enables a user to enter all or part of a name (old species name, virus name, isolate name, synonym, etc.) and have returned the new, current species name corresponding to the search query. It uses current and past databases from the ICTV (MSL and VMR lists) and NCBI to find hits to your query and then connect those hits to a current taxon name (usually species, but higher ranks as well).
