Biography
Professor Stuart Siddell retired in 2015 and is now Emeritus Professor of Virology at the University of Bristol. His research focused on genetic approaches to the study of coronavirus replication and pathogenesis. He has served the ICTV as member and chair of the Coronavirus Study Group (1982-2000), Elected Member of the Executive Committee (2008-2014), Chair of the Subcommittee for ss (-) RNA and dsRNA viruses (2014-2017), and Vice-President (2017-present). He was Editor-in Chief of the Journal of General Virology (1998-2002) and is now Editor-in-Chief of the online ICTV 10th Report. He lives in Germany, and is interested in communicating and promoting a wider appreciation of virus taxonomy.
