Distinguishing features

Chaetoceros setoensis DNA virus (CsetDNAV) was isolated from the diatom Chaetoceros setoensis strain IT07-C11 and shows a high host specificity within the host genus (Tomaru et al., 2013b). CsetDNAV has a covalently-closed-circular ssDNA genome and eight different short-complementary fragments (67–145 nucleotides), which have not been reported in other diatom viruses. The genus is delineated on the basis of Rep protein phylogeny.
