Distinguishing features

Members of the two species in the genus Rhotorquevirus have genomes of 2.2–2.3 kb and have been identified in a wood mouse (species Apodemus sylvaticus, family Muridae) and a bobcat (species Lynx rufus, family Felidae), although in the latter case this was a fecal sample and most likely prey-derived.

Different species in the genus have orf1 genes with <69% pairwise identity.
